Forex Trading Hours
It’s important to know the Forex trading hours of the markets you choose to trade.
I always trade a market while it is open - it is possible to trade while it’s closed, however there won’t be much movement at all while the market is closed. Also, each day comes with its market changes and fluctuations. It’s important to trade each day on its own merits, doing your analysis on a daily basis. Each day’s trading hours start at 9am in Wellington, New Zealand. Below is a table of daily trading hours for Forex in Greenwich Mean Time (GMT):
| Location | Open (GMT) | Close (GMT) | | Wellington | 10:00 pm | 6:00 am | | Sydney | 11:00 pm | 7:00 am | | Tokyo | Midnight | 9:00 am | | Hong Kong | 1:00 am | 10:00 am | | Frankfurt | 7:00 am | 4:00 pm | | London | 8:00 am | 5:00 pm | | New York | 1:00 pm | 10:00 pm |
A great free tool that I use to determine Foreign Exchange trading hours is Qlock.
You can download 'skins' to your desktop, so you can see at one glance what the time is in London, Sydney, New York… anywhere in the world!
I’ve also noticed that the World Time Server has little clock-type gadgets that you can add to your iGoogle page.
Remember that no matter where you live in the world, you can always find the time to trade some of the Forex currencies. The market itself is open 24 hours a day, so opportunities are always ripe for the picking.
